Applies to: Dispatch v1.0.0, last updated 2026-04-05
TL;DR: Display settings let you hide panels, change the font and zoom scale, and customize status indicator symbols. All changes apply immediately without a page reload.
These settings span the Visibility and Visual tabs of the settings panel. Open the panel with the gear icon in the top-right navbar.

A preview sentence updates in real time as you change the selection. When Dyslexic Mode is active (set in the Access tab), this picker is disabled and OpenDyslexic is used regardless of this setting.
Zoom Scale
Section titled “Zoom Scale”A slider that scales the entire UI from 70% to 160% in 5% steps. The scale applies to the main app area. The settings panel itself is not affected. A “reset to 100%” link appears when the scale is not at its default.
Icon customization
Section titled “Icon customization”Dispatch ships with a set of default status indicator symbols. When you want different symbols, the Icon Configurator lets you replace them per state.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Open Settings with the gear icon in the top-right navbar, then go to the Colors tab. Under Status Indicator Theme, select the Custom tile. The Icon Configurator appears immediately below the theme tiles and remains visible as long as Custom is the active theme. Switching to any other theme hides the configurator without losing your custom selections.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The configurator shows one row per agent state. Each row displays the state name, a description of when that state is active, and the symbol currently assigned to it rendered in that state’s color.
| State key | Label | Active when |
|---|---|---|
live_idle | Live / Idle | Agent is online with no active task |
thinking | Thinking | Model is generating a response |
tool_use | Tool Use | A tool call is executing |
waiting | Waiting | Agent has replied and is awaiting input |
error | Error | Agent hit an unrecoverable error |
warning | Warning | Heartbeat is stale or agent may be stuck |
idle | Offline | No heartbeat detected |
Click the Change button on any row to open the icon picker for that state. The picker groups symbols into six categories:
- Cosmic: stars, halos, and orbital symbols
- Tech: gears, bolts, and circuit-adjacent glyphs
- RPG: swords, shields, and gem shapes
- Status: checkmarks, crosses, and indicator symbols
- Fun: broad miscellaneous set
- Terminal: brackets, arrows, and monospace-friendly characters
Use the category tabs at the top of the picker to filter to one group. Click any symbol to apply it and close the picker. Changes take effect immediately throughout the dashboard. Close the picker without selecting by pressing Escape or clicking outside it.
To restore all states to the built-in defaults, click Reset to defaults at the bottom of the configurator.
